We are a bagpipe and drum band based in Bloemfontein, South Africa who are primarily focused on giving and enjoying entertaining live performances.
The Bloemfontein Scottish Pipe Band was founded in 1988 by ex-members of the disbanded Caledonian Society Band. For several years the band was affiliated to Bloemspruit Regiment, and performed in army browns. Between 1993 and 1996 the band was completely independent and performed in gray pants and white shirts until it formed a. partnership with Kimberley Regiment' who loaned it a number of old MacKenzie kilts. Several years ago this partnership came to an end.
Now clad in Wallace tartan Bloemfontein Scottish performs at functions and events in and around the Free State.
Bloemfontein Scottish Pipes & Drums is a marching band. We play a variety of popular performing traditional Scottish bagpipe music, South African music and contemporary melodies arranged for bagpipes and drums.
While based in Bloemfontein, in recent years we have performed regularly at functions and events both large and small in and around the Free State.
Even though we are an amateur organisation we take pride in putting on a professional performance whenever we play
